Voted Happiest place in Britain

Voted Happiest place in Britain

Posted 4 January 2020

Hexham has been named the happiest place to live in Britain. The Northumberland market town came out on top after 22,000 people responded to Rightmove's happy at home index survey

They were asked questions such as the extent to which they feel a sense of community spirit, feel safe, earn enough to live comfortably and whether locals are friendly and polite.

They were also asked about local amenities such as sports facilities, arts and culture, shops, restaurants, doctors' surgeries, schools and green spaces.

Hexham is host to a farmers' market as well as Viking-themed events, an array of independent shops and Hexham Old Gaol - reputed to be England's earliest purpose-built prison.

The town is a tourist gateway to Hadrian's Wall and Hexham Abbey, with its 1,300-year-old history, stands at its heart.

Important information

for Daly Park owners

As you know the Prime Minister declared a National Emergency last night and the government has put in place severe restrictions on travel outside your home and have put in place measures to aid this. Among these measures is the closure of caravan parks many of the parks in the area have closed already such as Holgates, Beetham, Lake District Estates and Holker Group Parks among a few.

Therefore in accordance with the government directive we have to close our parks effective immediately and remain closed until such time the government tells us we can reopen. If you are on the park already we ask that you leave the park by 4pm Tuesday the 24th March 2020. Anyone at home must not come to the park until we have been advised by the government that you can return. No visits are permitted during this closure.

None of us in our lifetime have had to face anything the like of what is happening in not only our country but around the world and it is our social responsibility to consider our part in the spread of this virus and on the strain on the local communities we are a part of. We all need to play our part in stopping this deadly virus and protect our families, loved ones, friends and communities.

For more information on the government closures of caravan parks the link is below and can be found in the section Closing Non-essential Shops And Public Spaces where the directive lists the closure of hotels, hostels, bed and breakfasts, campsites, caravan parks and boarding houses.

We ask all our owners to keep safe along with their families and we will be here waiting to welcome you back once we are through this challenging time our country is undergoing.

Best wishes and stay safe - Hugh Daly
